We welcome visitors on Tuesdays through Sundays. Please note seasonal variations and check for updates before your visit.

Getting Here

UBC Botanical Garden is located on the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia. We’re easy to reach by car, transit, or taxi, with parking available on site.

The Garden is located at 6804 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver. From downtown, take West 4th, 10th or 16th Avenue to UBC. From the airport, take SW Marine Drive northbound to UBC. We are located on the west side of SW Marine Drive.

Google Maps

There are two buses that stop near UBC Botanical Garden. The #R4 41st Ave bus stops on West 16th Avenue near University Hill High School. From there it is a 15-minute walk to the Garden. The #68 UBC Exchange campus shuttle stops on Stadium Road, opposite the Garden, and returns to the UBC trolley loop on University Boulevard. For complete bus schedules and routes, please call Translink at 604-953-3333 or visit translink.ca.

We recommend planning your trip via TransLink’s online trip planner or Google Maps to confirm the best route and timing.

Get Transit Directions

Taxis and rideshares can drop visitors at the main entrance. Travel time from downtown Vancouver is approximately 25 minutes.

Please confirm pickup locations in advance; mobile reception is reliable across most areas of campus.

Parking is available next to the main entrance of the UBC Botanical Garden. Payment is by meter or the UBC Parking app. Parking is $2.25/hr or $7 all day until garden closing time.

Accessible parking spaces are located near the entrance, and EV charging is available in select areas of the lot.

For Nitobe Memorial Garden, paid parking is available nearby at Fraser River Parkade (6440 Memorial Rd, Vancouver, BC).

UBC Botanical Garden is committed to providing a comfortable experience for all. 

For guests with accessibility and mobility challenges, there will be accessible pathways marked throughout the David C. Lam Asian Garden. A limited number of benches will also be available throughout the Garden for guest needs.

The Garden is a tobacco-free environment. Smoking and tobacco products are not allowed on Garden property, including all buildings, grounds, restrooms and parking lots.

You are welcome to take photos for your personal use. Commercial photography is prohibited without prior consent. Please email garden.bookings@ubc.ca for instructions and guidelines. All photography requests should be directed to our Photography & Filming department.

Other than service dogs, the Garden is a pet-free zone. Kindly leave your pets at home as it is dangerous to leave any pets in the car and our parking lot does not offer any shade.

Paid parking in effect by UBC Parking. Please visit UBC Parking for more info and to pay online.

Yes you are welcome to bring food and have a picnic at the Garden. We also have a Garden Cafe that serves coffee, drinks, snacks and ice cream. Please be mindful and sit in designated seating areas in order to preserve our collections.

No. Nitobe Memorial Garden is a separate garden located at 1895 Lower Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4, about a 20 minute walk from the Botanical Garden.
