What is a FOG?: September 24, 2020
FOGs are Friends of UBC Botanical Garden. Forty years ago, the original seven FOGs were alumni of UBC who invited their friends to join them in their endeavours at the Garden. Today, there are approximately 120 active FOG participants. Our common interest and goal remain the same: enjoying gardens and gardening while giving our time and support to UBC Botanical Garden. FOGs have diverse backgrounds and are happy to share their skills to make a difference. Our like-minded interest in plants, nature, travel and people create the long-term relationship we have with each other and the Garden.
Are you interested in becoming a FOG? If you are looking for a community to share your love of plants, gardens, and friendship, we would love to welcome you. Learn more and join here.

FOGs Food Garden Harvest: September 10, 2020
The Friends of UBC Botanical Garden (FOGs) help horticulturist Linda Layne with the seasonal harvest in the Food Garden, all looking happy to be back in the Garden. One harvest this week yielded 115 pounds of food for 9 hampers!
The harvested produce is donated to local food banks both on and off campus. With the help of the FOGs, the Food Garden has been donating to charities for approximately 20-30 years, with an enormous amount of produce donated over the years.

Introduction to the Friends of the Garden: August 27, 2020
UBC Garden is lucky to have the Friends of UBC Botanical Garden (FOGs), a dedicated community of Garden ambassadors. FOGs’ contributions are vital to the operation at the Botanical Garden in organizing and supporting events and activities throughout the year, raising thousands of unusual plants for sale, providing tours, and much more. They have also nurtured a unique, close-knit community by organizing meetings with guest speakers and walks in the Garden.
Follow our regular feature where we share stories on how the Friends of the Garden are continuing their contributions and community during these challenging times.
Hi Monica, thank you for your comment. We will forward your message along to the FOGs and they will be in touch with you. All the best!
I am an avid gardener who has no garden these days. I live close by UBC, I have attended UBC. I love the gardens on campus. I would really like to volunteer and I would show up. I am also looking for community, the idea of gardening with a community devoted to the UBC grounds and making friends really appeals to me.
