Join Celeste Snowber for a walking performance of dance and poetry out of the winter season. Whether it is the living bouquet of the fragrance of Chimonanthus or the light on paperbark maples, winter holds delights as we walk into wonder. Enjoy a blend of art and ecology in this creative garden performance as Celeste interprets the Garden’s unique botanical collection through a poetic and performative lens.
Presenter/Performer: Celeste Snowber, PhD is a dancer, poet/writer and award-winning educator who is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. She has written extensively and her books include Embodied Inquiry: Writing, living and being through the body as well as two collections of poetry. Celeste was our Artist in Residence at UBC Botanical Garden for two years and she continues to create site-specific performances in the natural world that explore the connections between ecology and the arts. The poetry which emerged out of her time in the garden has been published in a variety of journals and she is working on a documentary and book connected to the artist residency.
