Come celebrate Pride and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community with UBC Botanical Garden’s BranchingOUT Thursday July 17th (6-9pm)! You can expect an array of fun (and sassy) nature activities, a trek along the Greenheart TreeWalk, sunset drinks, and a great opportunity to meet like-minded people curious about nature. This year, the team has not only added new features to the event but also a new logo.
What To Expect
We asked our host, Scott, “What can we expect at BranchingOUT this year?”.
At the start of BranchingOUT, you can expect great music, a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, cheeky icebreakers (involving plants of course), and some both funny and informative botanical displays. After a few greetings and messages, guests will have the opportunity to go on the Greenheart TreeWalk, wander the Asian Garden, and participate in various “sassy botanical stations”.
These stations are new this year! They are being created by various staff members generously volunteering their time. Expect fun and expect interactive. (Sneak Peek: for our astrology-lovers, you’ll definitely need to check out the AstroloTREE station 👀).
BranchingOUT is a chance to celebrate Pride, learn about the wonders of nature, and make friends with people. Every year, the event raises funds for worthy organizations serving the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and this year our partner organization is UBC CampOUT!. If you’re able, consider donating to their program and take home a BranchingOUT sticker as a small token of our thanks.
