Researchers from across UBC and around the world work in the Garden to explore questions in plant biology, biodiversity, conservation, and climate science. The Garden facilitates this work by providing access to well-documented, living plant collections — including species with verified wild provenance — along with dedicated space and resources for fieldwork, sampling, and monitoring the biodiversity that exist within the Garden.
Current research projects include long-term phenology studies, taxonomic delineation, flower evolution, plant chemistry, trait-based research, genomics initiatives, and conservation programs that integrate molecular techniques with ecological observation. These projects not only advance scientific knowledge but also contribute to global efforts to conserve plant diversity. Explore our map of research projects here.
