Contact usCasual & Tourist Photography
Visitors are welcome to take casual and tourist photographs in UBC Botanical Garden and Nitobe Memorial Garden. Please note that tripods, luggage, large equipment, costumes, and special event attire are not permitted. All visitors must follow our Garden Etiquette & Rules.
- Photographers may not block pathways or restrict access to any garden areas.
- Please leave flowers and plants for everyone to enjoy, do not collect or remove seeds, flowers, fruits, vegetables, plant labels, or other materials.
- Stay on designated pathways and mowed lawn areas, and avoid walking in mulched or planted garden beds.
Wedding, Engagement or Personal Promotional Photography*
Looking to capture your special day at UBC Botanical Garden or Nitobe Memorial Garden? Wedding, engagement, or personal promotional photography sessions are available for $300 and include a two-hour photoshoot and garden admission for up to 15 people.
Groups larger than 15 may add guests at applicable group rates. Both gardens may be used on the same day for an additional $50. Use of Nitobe Memorial Garden must be booked in advance and is limited to a maximum of 25 people due to the site’s sensitivity.
Photography sessions are not private bookings, and the Garden will remain open to the public during your session. All visitors must review and follow our Garden Etiquette & Rules.
*Includes staged photoshoots such as family gatherings, reunions, or special occasions.
Commercial Photography & Filming
Photography: All photography for commercial purposes, including business-related social media content, must be approved by the Garden’s Bookings Coordinator. Please allow sufficient time for review and approval prior to your requested shoot date.
Filming: Planning to film a student or commercial project at the Garden? All filming requests must first be submitted through the UBC Film Liaison Office. Please review their website and provide the required information, including proposed filming dates. The Film Liaison Office will coordinate approval with UBC Botanical Garden.
Once approved, you will work with the UBC Film Liaison Office for contractual and insurance arrangements, and with the Garden’s Bookings Coordinator to coordinate scouting and on-site logistics.
