Garden Re-opening FAQ
The safety and wellbeing of our guests, members and staff is our topmost priority. All staff members are undergoing comprehensive training on COVID-19 safety and social protocols to ensure everyone’s safety while they work.
When you reserve a ticket, you will be sent a pre-visit email notifying you of the entry access guidelines and visitation protocols based on British Columbia’s and UBC’s guidelines, including information on social distancing, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and Hygiene and Hand Sanitizing.
There will be signage on hygiene, social distancing, building closures and limited amenities, such as available washrooms, at the entrance, information desk, and throughout the Garden. Everyone on-site will be advised to practice physical distancing by remaining at least six feet away from others while standing in lines or exploring the Garden. Directional information indicating the recommended walking routes will also be posted along paths.
All high traffic/high touch surfaces are cleaned at regular intervals. Shared spaces such as the Reception Centre, Garden Pavilion & Scholar’s Retreat have been modified and will allow limited occupancy. The Taylor Plaza will be closed.
While we strive to maintain health and safety guidelines provided by UBC and the province, the Garden is committed to providing a comfortable experience for all.
For guests with accessibility and mobility challenges, there will be accessible pathways marked throughout the David C. Lam Asian Garden. A limited number of benches will also be available throughout the Garden for guest needs. See the above-posted map of the garden to view a suggested accessible route in the Garden.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 604.822.4208 for more information on accessibility at the Garden and to notify us about your accessibility needs. We will do our best to ensure that we provide the best experience possible when you visit.
