This unit promotes biocultural diversity by helping students explore how nature connects to our senses, memory, identity, culture, family history, and lived experiences. Plants, flowers, trees, natural foods, medicines, and garden landscapes can remind students of meaningful experiences and relationships that shape who they are. Through listening, observing, reflecting, storytelling, and artmaking, students will develop deeper connections with nature, place, community, and their own identities.
