BMO Marathon road closures on May 5, 2019

On May 5, 2019 the annual BMO marathon will run past UBC Botanical Garden and Nitobe Memorial Garden. With 13,000 runners and 5,000 spectators, it is a large event that will cause traffic delays and some detours throughout the city. We will remain open for business during the event and access to our gardens will be maintained.

To make your trip to our gardens as easy as possible review the material below including the detailed route maps.

Detours and access points:

UBC Botanical Garden access will be maintained via Stadium Road throughout the marathon. NW/SW Marine Drive northbound lanes will be CLOSED from Chancellor Blvd to West 16th Avenue from 8:45 am to 11:30 am.

Nitobe Memorial Garden will be open and it is easiest to park in the Rose Garden parkade and walk to the Garden from there (less than a 5 minute walk – see UBC detailed race route map below).

For further event information, please see the BMO Marathon website.

We wish all the runners the best of luck completing their marathon.
