Learn about natural fibre dyes and make your own scarf to take home. Participants will review plant safe for use as colourants and overview of natural dye techniques. While walking through the beautiful garden areas we will search for plants growing that can be used as natural dyes. After our walk, we will do some demonstrations and cook our plant materials. We will share some tea while we wait for our projects to complete. Everyone will leave with our own silk scarf to take home.
Important Notes: Dress for the weather. Please bring a lunch. Light snacks provided.
Instructor: Darcy Smith is a local fibre artist specializing in natural dyes made from local plants.
Cancellation Policies: A $5.00 processing fee per attendee is charged if cancellation notice is less than 7 days prior to your scheduled program. There is no fee for transferring the registration to another person. Cancellations can be made by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. In the event that a program is cancelled by UBC Botanical Garden, we will offer the option of transferring to another program or obtaining a full refund.
